It is important to lap (flatten) your sharpening stones regularly.

The NL-4 Lapping Plate is designed to flatten waterstones from 110μm to 10μm (120 grit to 1500 grit).

The NL-4 is a traditional plated design. However, unlike standard designs, the NL-4 has raised diamond coated structures.

It is the edges of these raised diamond structures that are doing the heavy work.

The NL-4 sports an arrow-rake pattern for heavy material removal. The long straight edges cut very well across stones. The spaces in between the ridges allow for slurry to move through and keeps the surface from gunking up.

The Chevron pattern of the he NL-4 works extremely well for the Nano Hone Diamond Resin Plates and Strops.

Speed and consistency are your best friends to sharpen efficiently. Lap often and your stone will cut.

The NL-5 Lapping Plate is designed to flatten all whetstones from 35μm to 0.5μm (400 grit to 30,000 grit range).

The NL-5 is a traditional plated design. However, unlike standard designs, the NL-5's surface is a series of raised diamond coated structures. It is the edges of these raised diamond structures that are doing the heavy work.

The NL-5 features the star and hexagon pattern maximizing the number of working edges. This increases the number of edge-material contact points.

This plate is not intended for sintered ceramics or diamond resin stones, such as Cerax.

The NL-6 Lapping Plate is designed to flatten all whetstones from 35μm to 0.5μm (400 grit to 30,000 grit range). With more surface area to cover larger faces, this new addition to the Nano Hone Lapping Plate series is the go to for hobbyists and professionals.

Like a wide-screen smartphone requiring your full grasp, the NL-6 is nothing less than a handful. The surface is coated with diamond abrasive particles in a nickel bed. The NL-6's surface is a series of raised diamond coated structures. It is the edges of these raised diamond structures that are doing the heavy work.

Our new NL-6 has flat surfaces on both ends to avoid a sudden drop off during flattening which protects the stars from chipping.

This plate is intended for ceramic water stones.

The NL-8 Lapping Plate utilizes a solid metal button design.

Diamonds are dispersed evenly throughout the metal button matrix. This design is extraordinarily tough. The buttons have been set in stainless steel weighs to ensure structural integrity. These buttons are virtually indestructible. The button plate is an amazing surface leveling tool. Its weight is integral to it's smooth lapping action.

Our Button Plate Designs can be recalibrated many times over the life of the product.

The NL-8 is recommended for use with sharpening stones in the range of 35 μm (400 grit) to 0.5 μm (30,000 grit). It is a 50μm plate.

The key difference between the NL-8 and NL-10 is size. The NL-10 is more than 20% larger than the NL-8, and is guaranteed to last longer; flatten more.

Button plates can be used with sintered ceramics and diamond resin stones.
