Product information

Achieving a superior, razor-sharp edge starts with a foundation of flatness. Regularly flattening (lapping) your sharpening stones is essential for maintaining a consistent and even surface. A flat stone surface ensures optimal contact between the blade and the stone, allowing for precise sharpening and honing. This crucial step eliminates irregularities, guarantees uniform blade contact, and ultimately empowers you to produce a sharper and more refined edge on your blades. Elevate your sharpening experience by prioritizing the flatness of your stones—a fundamental key to achieving the pinnacle of cutting precision.

The NL-4 Lapping Plate is meticulously designed to flatten waterstones ranging from 110μm to 10μm (120 grit to 1500 grit). Unlike standard designs, the NL-4 features raised diamond-coated structures along with an arrow-rake pattern for effective material removal. The long straight edges cut smoothly across stones, while the ridges allow slurry to move through, preventing surface gunk buildup. This Chevron pattern works exceptionally well with Nano Hone Diamond Resin Plates and Strops. With a diamond size of 130 microns, the NL-4 emphasizes speed and consistency for efficient sharpening. Remember, lap often to keep your stone cutting effectively.

The NL-6 Lapping Plate is crafted to flatten all whetstones within the 35μm to 0.5μm (400 grit to 30,000 grit) range, making it ideal for both hobbyists and professionals. The star-patterned surface, coated with diamond abrasive particles in a nickel bed, features raised diamond-coated structures that do the heavy work. This plate, specifically intended for ceramic water stones, offers increased surface area for larger faces.

For exceptional toughness and durability, the NL-10 Lapping Plate utilizes a solid metal button design, evenly dispersing diamonds throughout the metal button matrix. The design ensures structural integrity, and the buttons, set in stainless steel weighs, contribute to its smooth lapping action. Recommended for sharpening stones within the 35μm (400 grit) to 0.5μm (30,000 grit) range, the NL-10 is a 50μm plate that can be recalibrated multiple times over its lifespan. It is suitable for use with sintered ceramics and diamond resin stones, featuring diamonds with a size of 50 microns.
