Returns And Refund Policy

1. New Merchandise (Returnable Items)

Eligibility:

  • Returns accepted within 14 days of purchase, pickup, or delivery.
  • Items must be unused, unwashed, unscratched, unsharpened, and in original, undamaged retail packaging with all inserts, manuals, and accessories.
  • Proof of purchase (receipt or order number) is required.

Refund Method:

  • Refunds will be issued to the original form of payment:
    • Cash purchases refunded in cash.
    • Card purchases refunded to the same card.
    • Gift cards are non-refundable and cannot be exchanged for cash.

Shipping Fees:

  • Original shipping fees are non-refundable (unless due to our error).
  • Return shipping is the customer’s responsibility unless otherwise arranged.

2. Buyback Program Store Credit & Refurbished Knife Purchases

Using Buyback Credit to Purchase New Items:

  • Items purchased with Buyback Program store credit are eligible for return within 14 days, if they meet the same standard eligibility criteria listed above.
  • Refunds will be processed as follows:
    • Any amount paid via cash or card will be refunded to the original payment method.
    • Any amount paid with Buyback Program store credit will be reissued as store credit (digital or physical gift card).
    • Buyback credit is non-refundable for cash under any circumstance.
    • Reissued store credit does not expire.

Purchases of Refurbished / Pre-Owned Knives:

  • All pre-owned knives sold through the Buyback Program are final sale and not eligible for return or exchange.
  • These knives are inspected, serviced, sharpened, and offered at special pricing.
  • We encourage customers to ask questions before purchasing—we’re happy to assist.

3. Classes & Events

Cancellations & Refunds:

  • Cancellations made at least 72 hours in advance are eligible for a full refund.
  • Cancellations made within 72 hours of class time and no-shows are non-refundable.

4. Sharpening & Repair Services

  • All sharpening and repair services are non-refundable.
  • If you are dissatisfied with the result, please contact us within 7 days of pickup, and we’ll do our best to address the issue.

5. Online Orders — Shipping Damage or Loss

  • Once your order is handed off to the carrier, we are not responsible for shipping delays or mishandling.
  • If your order arrives damaged or does not arrive, contact us within 5 days of the delivery (or expected delivery) date to initiate a claim. Photo evidence may be required.

6. Final Sale Items

The following are final sale and not eligible for return, refund, or exchange:

  • Refurbished/Buyback knives
  • Gift cards
  • Perishable goods (e.g., food)
  • Downloadable software

7. Partial Refunds — Online & In-Store

Partial refunds may be issued as store credit only, under the following conditions:

  • The item is returned within the 14-day window but shows signs of use, wear, or damage.
  • The item is returned after the 14-day window, even if unused and in new condition (subject to approval).
  • Parts or original packaging are missing.

All partial refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis and are not eligible for cash or original payment refunds.


8. Exchanges

  • We accept exchanges for defective or damaged items only.
  • Contact support@elementknife.com before sending any items back.
  • If appropriate, we may issue a prepaid return shipping label.

9. Gifts & Gift Cards

Gift Returns:

  • Gift items may be returned for store credit if they meet the conditions of our standard 14-day return policy (unused, in original retail packaging, etc.). Proof of purchase is required.
    • If shipped as a gift, store credit will be issued to the recipient.
    • If given in person, recipient may return to our retail store within 14 days for store credit.
    • If not marked as a gift, refund goes to original purchaser’s payment method.

Gift Cards & Store Credit:

Gift cards and store credits are final sale and non-refundable. They may be used toward any future purchase but cannot be redeemed for cash.


10. Return Instructions

To initiate a return:

  • Email us at support@elementknife.com with your receipt or order number.
  • If you’re responsible for return shipping, we strongly recommend using a trackable service or purchasing shipping insurance for items over $75.
