Takeshi Saji is a distinguished blacksmith hailing from Echizen, Japan, with a rich family tradition in knife-making. Born in 1948 in Takefu, he began learning the craft in 1966 alongside his father and, by the age of 30, had taken on the role of third-generation master blacksmith. In 1992, Saji was officially recognized as a “Traditional Master Craftsman” by Japan's Ministry of International Trade & Industry, solidifying his place in the world of fine cutlery.

This stunning knife features a striking black SG2 Damascus steel with 31 layers, showcasing a beautifully etched pattern that emphasizes the intricate contrast of the layered steel. Paired with an octagonal Rosewood handle, the design balances elegance with functionality. The blade is thin near the edge, ensuring precise cuts without feeling overly delicate or fragile. For added luxury, the knife comes in a traditional wooden kiri box.

The Bunka knife is a highly versatile tool, similar to the Santoku, with a distinctive clipped tip that forms a drop-point design. Its shorter blade, combined with a subtle curve, makes it ideal for a variety of kitchen tasks, offering ease of use and adaptability.
